Ushers are often the first to extend a welcome to each person who walks through our doors. They greet parishioners and visitors, hand out bulletins, help people find a seat if needed, and guide the flow of communion. Ushers also collect the offering and lend a hand wherever it’s needed during the service. By serving as an usher, you help set the tone of the worship environment.

Acolytes assist the clergy in leading worship, carrying the cross and torches in procession and helping prepare the altar for Holy Communion. Serving as an acolyte is a meaningful way to grow in faith and take an active part in the rhythm of the liturgy. This ministry is open to youth and adults alike, with training and guidance provided along the way.

Lectors serve the congregation by reading Scripture aloud during worship, giving voice to the lessons appointed for the day. This ministry is a chance to help the congregation hear God’s Word with clarity and care. Lectors receive guidance ahead of time, so no prior experience is necessary — just a willingness to read.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist the clergy in administering the bread and wine during communion, standing alongside the priest to serve the congregation. This ministry requires licensing and training through the diocese and is a deeply meaningful way to take part in the sacrament. Those who serve in this role help make communion feel personal and unhurried for everyone who comes forward.

The Altar Guild is entrusted with preparing and caring for everything used in worship — the linens, vessels, and elements for communion. Members work quietly behind the scenes, before and after services, making sure every detail is attended to with care. It’s a ministry of humility and precision, ensuring the worship space is ready to receive the congregation each week.

This team keeps the church property looking its best — mowing, gardening, handling small repairs, and pitching in on bigger projects as they come up. It’s practical, hands-on work that helps make St. Thomas a welcoming place for everyone who visits.

The Vestry is the elected body that helps guide the life of the parish, working alongside the clergy on finances, property, and major decisions. Serving on Vestry is a multi-year commitment and a meaningful way to shape the future of St. Thomas.

We have all sorts of gatherings at St. Thomas from luncheons to special events. This team handles everything from set up, preparing food and drinks, to clean-up. They are a vital part of our parish life at St. Thomas.
